You can keep the new cat in the bathroom for a few days so they get used to hearing/smelling eachother before they meet. You can then gradually introduce them by putting the NEW cat into a cat carrier and letting the existing cat investigate...you might need to do this several times.

Most times it is easier to just let them at it. They will sort out who is the boss very quickly and it is much easier for you lol
well all cats are differnt...some get along fine but a lot of times they can be verrrry agressive. your cat will probably feel really territorial when you bring the new cat home and hiss and swat at it everynow and then, and you dont want this to happen and create kinda permanent bad relationship and tension between the cats.

keep the new cat in the bathroom for a couple of days and maybe ever up to a couple of weeks..or until they get used to each other. leave the door open a crack but not enough for the other cat to get in. this will let them get used to each other, smell each other, and for your old cat to get used to it being in ';its'; home. once the cats are ok around each other then you can see how they do in the same area by at first putting the new cat in a carrier and into a rrom wheere your old cat can check it out and then maybe in a pen if you have one of those pet gates. thsi should get the old cat used to having your new one around, and he wont mind as much when the new one starts roaming aroundthe house too

it wont neccesarily work, but it has worked for most of my cats. 2 of my cats rly dont like each other, but they dont attck each other, maybe a few hisses. they just give each other a lot of space. just like you cant force 2 peole who hate each other to be best friends; you just avoid them
