I'd agree with the other answers - space. Given the rising number of elderly and infirm we have to ask ourselves why more properties don't have bathrooms/toilets on the ground floor?Why in UK ppl build only one bath room in 3 bed room house?
Why do you need more than one bathroom in a three bed house?
Its what market forces allow builders to get away with.





We've got 5 bathrooms. believe me, you're better off with 1
Good question. I suppose you could build an en-suite in every room but then that makes the rooms smaller. You could build the houses bigger but that makes the gardens smaller.
Space. Land is expensive. Same in Japan, except the houses are much smaller.
