Need not be confused with the meaning of rest, since rest room is a phrase. Both are same.
............vRest room and bath room, both are same or different?
different as its looks my dear and all upon u what u think where is the will where is the wayRest room and bath room, both are same or different?
Most people would say it's the same. I think a bathroom is in a house, where a restroom is in a public place, without a shower or bathtub
You can rest in a bathroom, but you can't always take a bath in a restroom - so, strictly speaking they are different.
Obviously they are used interchangeably, but who calls the place they go poo in their own house a 'restroom'? But - at a ballgame, they go to the 'restroom'?

huh we r becumin so busy it doesn't mateer where r v restin!!!
(i say) there's no difference. going by how they sound , rest room sounds less crude (to me)
bathroom is mainly for bathing and stuff whereas restroom is for peeing or pooping, you know. they r different.
YES YAAR Because of Population
i think a restroom is like a powder room (sink and toilet) and a bathroom has a bath tub sink and toilet.
The phrases are usually interchangable, but I think that more appropriately a Rest Room refers to any toilet facility, especially those in a public place, while BathRoom refers to a facility in which a bath (tub) is actually located, usually in a home.
The same to me. Public or home I call them the same.
They both are same. Now Rest area is different since you can get snacks and beverage while you're travelling.
Both are same
I have never completely understood the American penchant for calling the toilet or lavatory the bathroom. This was hammered home to me when a horse in the road was doing what they do best and an American woman exclaimed that the horse was going to the bathroom. This conjured up a very odd picture to me or a domesticated equine trying to select a towel and toilet paper after having used the facilities. I am all for euphemisms but neither bathroom nor restroom does it for me. As a Brit I guess ';the loo'; works best.
