i have had my dog since 7/8/05 and she's never ever gone P**P in her kennel ( unfortunetly she has to go in one cause i just can't trust her in the house by her self (obviously))
and she just turned 1 year and 6 months on June 1rst. So why is she just now going to p**p in her kennel, and how can i teach her thats WRONG and not to do it anymore. I'm sick of cleaning it up!!!!!! lolWhy is my dog just now going to the bath room in her kennel?
My dog used to do that quite a bit. You'll probably notice that the stool isn't solid. If you take her out before you put her in the crate, don't leave her in for more than a few hours, and she STILL does it, take her to the vet. Dogs do not like staying in their feces and will do everything they can to hold it in. She might be sick. We put my dog on a quick round of antibiotics and the soft stool has not returned, and she hasn't gone in the crate since. Why is my dog just now going to the bath room in her kennel?
Ive had many dogs and I crate them all, Only one dog my labrdoodle would mess his crate .I think he did it on spite, he would get very upset when i left, he also could not be trusted. I ended up putting him in his outside pen.I only use the crate as a good place never as punishment my other dogs run right in as soon as i say kennel but he was stubborn he would go in no problem but he would make sure i would pay dearly for leaving him good luck I know all about those messes
Could it be a health issue? Take her to the vet and see if she's sick...most of the time animals won't soil their bedding unless it's an emergency. Get her to a doctor.:)
When dogs are one-two years old, they go through their ';teenager'; stage. They may do things that they usually wouldnt do. You may not even think it's the same dog anymore. Just be patient with it, it's probably a stage.
On the other note, is the kennel too big? If a dog has room enough to poop and sleep in the same confined space, the kennel may be too big.
It's strange because dogs usually like to keep their ';den'; area clean...
maybe your crate is too big. Try putting the dog in a smaller crate, and make sure you take her out before putting in the crate. If the problem persists see the vet. Maybe something is wrong
